Like the Vogue issue, September has always known how to make an entrance. Days grow shorter but the calendar is burning bright, honey, and everyone you admire suddenly has a new project, job and dare we say a better pen? It is the season of returning (back to work, school, you name it), and we would like to suggest a destination: the front of your own notebook, perhaps your first of the year.

Go back to the early pages. Read them slowly, and we think they’ll start to read like someone extra fascinating. You will meet a version of yourself with plans, and you now hold the rare advantage of knowing how several of them turned out.

Some arrived precisely as written, and some arrived improved. Some showed up totally different than you had them. And some things died away, and that's okay.

This is harvest season, figuratively and literally. At Claudine Lucille, over our decades of journaling we know a year gives to you twice, once in the writing of it and again in the rereading. September sets the stage for that second gift.

So pour something good, open to page one, and take stock like a connoisseur. You grew more than you noticed. The proof is in your own handwriting.
